the extraordinary design vision of chinese designer, dingyun zhang, is clear with this take on the adidas samba shoes. while grounded in the archive, zhang’s approach gives a disruptive touch to the football aesthetic. the inspiration comes from a mix of sci-fi and other worldly creatures, fused with a deep love of street culture. the result is a evolution of the puffy samba from prior seasons, now fully covered up with shorthair cow suede material. the elongated tongue continues with the exaggerated theme found on the trainers.
